Cool Gear selector joint, ever replaced?

Hi,

Has anybody ever replaced the ajustable joint which is on the front end of the gear selector pipe in the tunnel under a 964.

It's a sort of ball joint construction but mine has some play there.
Is this o.k. or do I have to replace it??

So yes, is it easy to do? [looks easy to do for me]

Please response.

Thanks,
Arjan

I'm not sure about the joint to which you are referring.
I just replaced my shift rod/shift coupling. This aluminum coupling which connects the rod coming from the shifter to the rod coming out of the transmission had cracked on my car. Replpacement was quite simple. If this is the part that you are referring to, just make sure that you use Loctite thread lock on the shoulder bolt that holds the coupler to the transmision rod.
