JB

I came across this happening to an owner of a 3.2 or something some time ago on Rennlist. I have never heard of it happening on a 964 though. Glad to hear you are both OK. Quick reacions saved the day by the sound of it.

The reason why it spooked me slightly is that a few weeks ago, my mind flashed back to the throttle sticking issue and I thought 'I hope this nevers happens to me!'. Weird. I was going over 130 'kph' at the time. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="wink.gif" />

John,

I appreciate it was panic time but there should be a rev limiter in the car....
Let the thing rev its nuts off while you bring it safely to a halt. (theory: self and wife are more valuable than engine).

As for the steering lock....now you know why they must be removed on competition cars !!!

P.S. in my heart stopping moments rennlist doesn't even make the top 20 of items that cross my mind - sorry.

I didn't trust the rev limiter because the needle just shot round so fast, I felt it might not catch the over-revving. Also, my chip means that the cut-out has been moved to beyond the redline.

Hi, R.

I still have not had the slightest trouble since. My mechanic feels (and I tend to agree) that the problem was probably grit at the pedal end, as the pedal box now has 13 years worth of dirt in it!

Fortunately, the engine shows not the slightest evidence of any damage, so I guess the rev-limiter did its job well, after all. Phew!
