Adrian,
A lot of people want your book, but we also know the holdup reason.
Can you give us a little light in darkness...?

Dear Arjan,
As soon as I know I will let everyone know. There is a lot of pushing going on but it is truly out of my hands.

If all goes to plan and Mr Murphy stays away, the second set of three will be 993, 996 and ?. Let me get my 964 book and 911SC book out. The third one in the current series of three may also be changed. However I do not want to get ahead of myself.

Adrian,
with your extensive knowledge of 911s (and all things being equal with regard to cost, etc.), which series do you honestly feel to be the 'best'?
My personal view would be the 993 (especially in RS form), though I prefer the 964 for many reasons (shape, closeness to original, entertaining handling, greater solidity).

Best is a very subjective word. If you mean fastest then I would say a 964RS in stock form would be faster than a 993RS on the track. Due mostly to the lighter weight. The 993RS has a lot more potential though and is therefore in a lot of ways the better car (or could be made into a much better car).

Dear John,
I could not say which is the best really. My favourite is the GT-3 closely followed by the 993TT. I have not driven a wide enough selection to truly make a definitive statement but for pure normally aspirated fun the 1973 911 RS (I have driven a real one) or the 964 RS are something else. Mind you for all year driving the 964 C4 is still my favourite and most trustworthy.

Evo of October 2001 contains an article called "Greatest 911". They try to answer the question which the best 911 ever is, and find it very difficult
If you haven't seen it, it's on my <a href="http://jwhub.xtdnet.nl/porsche/reviews.html" target="_blank">reviews page</a>.
Cheers,
JW

" Classic & Sports Car", a european magazine, did a comparison bewteen the 993RS, 964RS and the 911RS in Nov 2001.
The last paragraph of the article;
"So if want your 911 for the road, take the 2.7: if you enjoy your motoring on the track, the 964 is the tool for you. But if its an equable blend of the two that you seek, the 993 is the one to have".
In the article, it expalined that the advancments made in the years after the 911RS was introduced, made the original car feel old. The 964 was harsh on the street but was the best car for an experienced driver on the track. The 993 was more forgiving both on and off the track.
It was a very interesting article.

Any chance of you scanning it?
I'd love to read it in full, and I can add it to my web page so that others can read it too
