Default Leda suspension, anyone tried it

Hi All,

I want to change my suspension set-up, I currently run eibach progressive springs with standard shocks, I like the look of the Leda set-up they seem well built and great value, but when I have asked a couple of P-car experts what they think of them, I have been told to stay away! what am i missing here, Does anyone have any experience of these? my car is used mainly for the road but i like to do the odd track day now and then , any feed back from you guys would be great.

Cheers

Here's a pretty informative discussion on LEDA suspension. FWIW, I have not heard any bad reports on LEDA and know they're used by a number of 944/951 Club Racers.

I had a prototype setup on a Boxster S for a couple of years (before I sold the car). I liked it very much. I think that the key is getting the spring rates right (and matched to the struts, of course).

LEDA is good stuff, whether they have managed to dial in the correct setup for a 964....I have no idea...

You can always go with proven solutions such as H&R coilovers, Bilstein HD's with uprated springs, PSS9's etc....unless LEDA is much cheaper (not because of lack of quality but questionably expertise) I would stick with the proven solutions. RS sways are also a good addition, in fact I consider them a must.

Christer,

LEDA are not cheap, far from it, but their base model was 24 way adjustable, I liked the setup, factory and BerverlyM took the time to take me round and show me all the guys.........However I was quoted £1200 for the setup, which currently is way beyond my budget. That's not to say I don't think they are worth that cost, it's simply too much for me to justify presently.

but 1200 is a good price compared to PSS9's and even maybe H&R coilovers....so that mightbe OK but I would want to drive a car with LEDA on first which I wouldn't need to if I was buying the aforementioned. That was my point. I cannot stress RS bars enough though, budget another £250 or so for those...although I wouldn't go much stiffer for street use...you can decide for yourself on Sunday. Do you want to leave a bit earlier for Dave's with me or...? I am sure Dave doesn't mind...ha ha..

I assume £1200 is just the parts?

I wonder what I paid for the RUF stuff - I thought it was about £2500 overall, but that included fitting and alignment. Makes Leda look like a bargain.

And you'll notice I've ignored Christers comment!

£1200 was for the parts, can't remember off hand if that included springs, they do normally use Eibach....
They do have full 4 wheel alignment facilities and corner balancing facilities. That's as much as I know.

What time are you leaving for Surrey Christer, and where would you suggest we meet enroute?

Well that depends a bit on Dave I guess, because if I have to leave a bit earlier in the afternoon then I would like to get to Dave's earlier if you see what I mean. And I would leave as early as necessary. Dave, if you are reading this let me know or call me to take offline. I will get back to you Kevin!

I'm pretty flexible on time. I usually get up early - and since you're driving all the way here I'm bound to be ready. Although apparently I have to buy bacon.

Let me know what time you'll arrive - I'm happy with anything from 9 onwards, but that would mean an early morning for you!

so Kevin....I can meet you on the A12 which is easy - it just depends on when you can/want to leave. We should consider an hour at least to Dave's from Billericay exit on A12 to Dave's...
