Clay bar is a must. Claying takes all the little specks and imperfections off the top layer of paint and makes a HUGE difference. When it comes to getting really glossy paint, preparation is the key. A good quality wash will set you up for an easier job of claying, which make the polishing more effective, which leaves the paint shining bright ready for the wax to deepen the shine. Here's a pic of mine. I'm still just a beginner, but I was happy with my results!
