Default Changing 964s

Has anyone ever sold their 964 and then bought another one with a different body style eg Coupe to Cab. Just interested.

Contemplating the same thing, have a 1990 C4 Cabrio all sorted out with no issues. Thinking of trading for a C2 coupe when car comes out of winter storage. The C4 is too easy to drive fast! Kind of miss my old 1983 SC where you could feel it in the seat of your pants. Don't want to put a roll bar in the Cabrio because of the Little Enthusiasts in the household. With a coupe I can get back into the DE's again.

I seem to remember Rob Mugglestone (spelling?) used to have a Cab and swapped to a Coupe.

The option to swap to a newer/different style of 964 is always tempting I would consider carefully how much work has gone into your existing car to get it sorted. Are the major problems now dealt with, would you have to spend again to get a car as sorted as your existing one and would you want to take that risk, at least you know where you stand at present, not something you can always say when you're buying a different car regardless of what the PO or service history say.

Jim - yep, I did

I originally had a 1989 C4 manual coupe, then a gap of about 7 years before getting a 1991 C2 Tiptronic Cabriolet. Kept it for about a year before changing it for a 1992 C2 Coupe manual.

I decided the cab wasn't the car I wanted to keep forever, so decided to find one that would be.

I did too. I had a 1990 Carrera 2 Targa for about 3 years and then sold it and bought a 1991 Carrera 2 Coupe and kept that for about 3 years. Nothing could beat the targa when it was nice weather and you could take the roof off, but, it also had a LOT of wind noise, leaked in heavy rains, creaked and groaned at every bump... That's why I switched to a coupe!

Mmmmm, I've had my 1990 Carrera 2 Targa for about 3 years!! I don't have any problems with wind noise or creaks and groans, but I do get a few leaks in the heaviest rain, although I'm sure I can fix that when I find the time.

I was just looking at www.eporsch.com and saw a 1990 Carrera 2 Coupe for sale in slate grey / linen leather same as mine...got me thinking. In cold wet weather I wonder why I bought the targa but as soon as the suns out and the roof is off, I remember. Can hear the flat six so much better.

I did - but I kept both cars!!! It's fun to drive them back to back to see the differences between a cabrio and a stiff coupe (coupe is extra stiff from the cage, though).

I would change my cab for a coupe (only for a widebody coupe of course) any day... That is what I initially was looking for... then ran into this car and simply could not let it pass by...

Anybody want to trade?

Thats exactly what happened to me, looked at the car and really wasn't looking for a C4. PO was getting married and took advantage of his mental lapse and really low balled him on the price. Picked it up about 8k under book value.

Alan - was the mental lapse about the good price or about getting married??
