Default Tyre pressure

I just got my new set of S03 at the rear. Im running 255/40 on 17" RUF speedline.

Does anyone know what tyre pressure i should have? The dealer used the factory pressure but i suppose that is best suited for the original tyre size (235?). The car handles much better than it did with my old pilot sport 265's. It corners better with less understeer but im afraid to wear them down too quickly with the wrong pressure.

Btw, i dont use my car on track, but rather for everyday driving.

Regards, Tore.

Porsche says 36psi all round for 17" wheels, but I think most people vary that somewhat.

Personally, I run 36/40 F/R.

John,
I notice that you run a C2, I mention this as a friend of mine here with a 964 C2 also on 17's found that with the factory pressures the rear tyres would wear in the centre using 36/44 as stated in the handbook

I think John is right!

36/44 is only for 16 inches!

for 17inches, should be 36 all round, I am using 36/40 like John is using and am happy with it.

Cheers!

Yes, if you've got an early handbook, it only mentions 36/44 (the wheels were 16"), but later handbooks show, in addition, 36/36 for 17".

But I find 36 too soft at the rear and the car gets a bit squirmy under hard braking. Mind you, 40 at the rear seems to high for track use - the grip goes down quickly.
