I am replacing the rack and pinion and I am looking for the steering gear grease used on the shafts (under the boots) connecting to the tie-rods. Is there an appropriate substitute?
PS. Check your boots people, mine were torn and allowed water to collect and rust the shafts and destroy the seals. You guessed it power steering fluid leakage followed soon after

I am not a lubricant specialist, but I believe a moly-based lube would be fine for this application. It's the same stuff used for cv joints and other high-stress areas.
