I have been lurking for a awhile now and in search of a 964 cab. I narrowed it down to a 1994 cab or a 1992 Roadster. I looked at one today and called it a American Roadster as in Adrians book. The owner corrected me and said it is an America Roadster. I told him that it is in Adrians book, but he brought out about a few magazine articles, Porsche Brochure, and others. The all say America. Does any one know who's right? Thanks.

Who cares?
The official name for this 964 is a model year 1992 911 (964) Carrera 2 Turbolook Cabriolet.
The name America(n) Roadster is a PCNA marketing name only.
The German translation to English is American and the PCNA called it the America.
I used the translation.
However because there are so many people who get seriously hung up on these things I have decided in my next books that everything will be described as the faactory described them on the engineering drawings and make only a note to possible marketing names.
The same discussions go on with the 1989 Pan America or Pan American special.
Similar discussions also go on in the UK when a Club Sport spec becomes a Sport or SS or SSE or some other deviation for marketing purposes.
I even had a person the other day ask me if I had any information on the 911 (964) Carrera 4 3.2 Litre. I was aksed if he should get the 3.2 or 3.6 litre version.
Ciao,
Adrian.

My 1993 Porsche 964 US brochure refers to the model as "The America Roadster". Interestingly, the pictures of the America Roadster in the brochure have 'European Version' captions under the pictures.

The ROW C2 Turbolook cab (over 700 built) and the US version (250 built) are identical machines except for the US Fed changes and the ROW version has no script on the engine lid.
The ROW versions are known ads candy cars because they mainly came in garish colours, super garish interiors and were fully optioned up with many little trick items.
What I find interesting is that when I was writing my book I could get almost no information out of the USA on the AR or here in Europe on the main ROW version.
I managed to find the owners of 2-genuine ones and one not so genuine one in the US and had to find the ROW version myself. PAG supplied some promotional long shots but luckily I found one in Zürich and was able to get up close and personal.
Now a couple of years later all these brochures and information is appearing

You did not offend me.
You asked a question about who is right or wrong? That is pretty personal because you are asking others to declare somebody right or wrong.
I had to give you my answer of how I came to my reasoning in my book.
Most authors would do the same given half the chance.
You questioned me in public, I answered in public.
Happy New Year,
