Exclamation RS mounts installed

Finally got around to installing the RS mounts. PCAR.COM has details instructions on the procedure.
Paragon Products had the best price on the whole kit.
The thing I found strange are torque specs for the two smaller bolts holding the mount to the chasis. I broke all 4 of my old bolts and ended up having to spend 4 hours drilling them out. After buying new bolts I still didn't come close to the specified 40nM.
So for anyone attempting to do the swap make sure to get some new bolts as the older ones will probably have a bit of rust. Do torque the main bolt to the specified 85nM or a bit higher in my case.
The motor mount upgrade did not cure the problem I had shifting out of gears.... I suspect the tranny mount or a rusty input shaft may be the culprit. Will check it out tomorrow and report my findings.
Incidently has anyone else had problems shifting out of 2nd and 3rd while coming to a stop??? Bleeding the slave didn't cure the problem.

To all happy holidays!!!

Did you replace the motor mounts or the transmission mounts? The M8 bolts that attach the engine mount to the body are only supposed to be torqued to 23 Nm (17 ft-lb), not 40 Nm.

Before you go replacing more parts and spending $$$ jack your car up in the air and have someone actuate the clutch pedal. There are 3 viewing "ports" on the transmission that you can look into to help you determine if your clutch problem is cause by the master cylinder, pedal roll pin, slave cylinder, release bearing, input shaft or pressure plate, etc.

I had the same problem & it was the clutch plate binding on a slightly rusty input shaft

So far I've only replaced the engine mounts. they were completely shot...here are some pics...On the left is a new stock mount on the right is my old one.

P-car.com must have the wrong torque settings for the M8 bolts...

Did you make those, Rob?

Just kidding; They're sweet.

Robert, you have to stop posting those pieces of art if you refuse to sell them to us! They incite too much lust for us poor slippery-slope addicts to control (and the drool on the keyboard at work gets frowned upon).

I am checking what it would cost to make a few more sets. I will post and if it is of any interest, I will sell them at net cost. Three qualifications, however: I cannot guarantee their longevity as they are race parts; (2) they will make for a rougher and noiser ride and (3) I would use them in conjunction with the Delrin® transmission mounts available from Porsche Motorsports.

Can someone suggest an online source for the front mount? Mine's not in the best shape, but everywhere I look they're priced at $200+. Common concensus is that it should run in the neighborhood of $50...

OK, so the correct torque value for the upper 13mm bolt is only 17ft-lb. How about the lower 19mm nut?

According to the factory manual, the torque for the 12mm threads is 62 ft lbs.

Better tack onto this thread as I will need to replace my engine mounts and the best advice is always appreciated.
