Hi,
Can anyone give me the part number for the Rev counter with the OBC, preferably the current one if it has changed at any time.
TIA

There are 24 different versions depending on where the tachometer is delivered to; USA, CANADA, GB, ROW. MY90, MY92, MY93., Turbo, Non-Turbo, 30th anniversary, 72 liter fuel tank, RS, etc. We need more info.

Jim,
I'll assume as your in Brighton that it's a RHD MPH model OBC your enquiring about? If so then the part no. is 964 641 313 00
I retrofitted one of these to my 1990 C2 about two years ago. I had to make up a mini-loom(not pre-installed on a 90 car) and wire into the ECU, diagnostics plug, central informer, speedo wiring and mirror housing(for temp sensor)!! Took a bit of time as it was all correctly soldered and covered in heatshrink tubing. Everything works as per an original and the whole job was very satisfying.... The speedo below the rev-counter is rather nice
I have a spare OBC rev-counter( again "UK" or RHD spec) if anyone is struggling to find one. I'm not in a hurry to sell however as I know they are very expensive should my installed one go faulty.........
Regards,
Gary

It's actually a LHD car and I have been offered a set of 993 dials with white faces and chrome rings on the inside of the glass but I need to know if the OBC will work in a 964 which I doubt it will but it is worth checking. If necessary I can plug it in a see as it's a 91 car which should have the wiring loom in place already.

As long as the part no. has 313 I think you'll be ok. A 993 641 313 00 is the same part.

If they are chrome ring you can find them in the tequipment section of PET, they won't be in the regular section so the only two that might work are 993-641-981-60 (ROW) and 993-641-981-62 (GB).
Jim,
I just installed a 993 Rev Counter with OBC in my 964. It was a straight fit, and the wirng is the same.
However, the function that tells you how many Kms (or Miles) you have left on your current fuel level always says 999 Km. I have not figured out why this function does not work and I remember having seen a post about this earlier. But, now I can't find it.
Take care

Do you still have the part number for your tachometer? What size fuel tank do you have? There are different versions of tachometers for different size fuel tanks (75 litres, 92 litres, etc.) The fuel level sender uses a different range of resistance for different size tanks i.e. Empty = 30Ohms and Full might be 180Ohms, while a larger tank might use E=10, F=90, etc.) If your half way decent with a solder iron it might be possible to mod your OBC but I've never done so I'm just speculating but its worth looking into it.Originally Posted by jenskleis

ExploreHi Jason,
Good question... the parts number. I must have a look, but will have to wait until next week when I'm back in Switzerland. I don't have my tools with me.
I will keep you posted.
Take care

Jenskleis,
as you have a 93 car am I correct in thinking the car has the OBC wiring installed from the factory?? Or is your car an earlier model but registered in 93 and you've fitted the wiring yourself?? If it's the latter you may find that(or indeed a mistake at the factory)the wire from the Central Informer to the Tacho is on the wrong pin at the CI end? This was the fault I made first time when I installed my wiring and had a similar problem. The wire runs from pin 7 on the beige connector on the Central Informer on some cars but on my car the signal came from pin 8. A closer look at the wiring diagrams for your exact model year should clear up what pin it should be. The central informer is located under the dash and provides all the signals to the warning lights etc.
Just my thoughts on a possible cause..........

Hi Gary,
Thanks a lot for the suggestion. My car was first registered in 1993, but I believe it the build-year could actually be 1992.
In any case, I will check the CI when I get home next week, and will let you know what I find.
