I just drained my transmission, and filled with Mobile 1 75W-90 synthetic gear oil. I am amazed at the improvement in shift action. It was 15 F (-10 C) overnight in Atlanta, and shifting was smooth. I put Swepco in the transmission 2 years ago, and thought it shifted worse afterwards. I think the oil is very important.

Hi Paul,

My 1st gear is also a bit "stiff" when the car is cold, but it losens up after 10 min approx.

Take care

Springer's right as always.
I too changed to synthetic last year and the difference was amazing. There is still a difference during climate change, but altogether a dramatically better experience with the synth. I feel much more confident when the weather turns to the chilly. No more KAKACHING nrrrag. OUCH! Just kidding, it wasn't that bad, but bad enough. You guys know the feeling (I don't want to shift). Scarry ain't it?

Switch to the Syntech; give your synchros a brake; it's good stuff.

Funnily enough mine has started to do exactly the same thing over the last few days. I will get the fluid changed at the next service...

G-50 transmissions do better with a synthetic lube, like Mobil 1. 915's do better with Swepco 201 gear lube.
