getting closer: Halon fire system installed and ready!
Thought I'd share my installation of the Halon fire system that I installed in the C4 today. I have three 180 degree nozzles - one in the engine compartment, one aiming at me and the passenger, and one in the front hood/bonnet. I ran aluminum lines - the kit comes with steel lines which I had installed in my 65 911 but aluminum were so much simpler - very soft and easier to adapt into position. I used the blank next to the head light switch to mount the pull cable which worked well - easily in reach, and looks good!
Also mounted the kill switch with a kevlar pull string (yes, tennis racket string!!).
I'll show some pics later of the covered interior - used some lightweight carpet that covered the back shelf nicely...
Enjoy!

You probably know that the Porsche RS/Cup disconnect switch also disconnects the DME so the fuel pump stops, too. You connect the two 'z' fittings on the battery switch to positions E31 and E42 on plug E in the main fuse/relay box. or I've seen where someone adapted a wire connection to the DME fuse in the fusebox from the top. Probably should double check that the master electric plug E is the same for C2 and C4, which will be in the wiring diagrams.

on the switch - are you just cutting the Electric - that will not positively kill the motor as the alternator is still supplying power.
you need to Cut Ignition as well to be legal in POC/PCA/Etc.
Just a though

Hey Robl you are right - but the current POC GCR's (probably not PCA) permit just the cut of the battery - I do realize that this switch is an old one transferred from my 65 - but still legal for the POC as of their last GCR update.
An updated switch is on my Christmas list, or a crafty split of the pull cable to trip a second switch to interrupt the DME power!
Bill, I will check the wiring... I thought I had to be more invasive and actually open up the central electric to split the power wire from the DME relay slot - if there's an easier method... Excellent!!

Last time i bought one the switches were $80.00 or so. Not too bad overall. I would not recomend doing a double pull - easier and safer to do it once. Also the Kevlar string can melt in a fire - I would use a Bicycle shifter cable with a sheath (cheap, $4.00 or so) and provides positive action. Plus you use the sheath to rout the cable to prevent any binding.
Enjoy - looks like a fun project.
What are you doing with the suspension? Just asking b/c of the inherent understeer caused by the YAW controler

Hey Rich thanks for checking - I'm a "close sitter" to the steering wheel and have long arms - I can reach that pull without trying hard. That's an important point for sure!!! You'd have to sit pretty far back to not be able to reach it - or just have short arms!
It is amazing how many guys have their fire extinguishers on the floor of the passenger seat - nowhere in reach!

I am one of those... ! But to be honnest, in case of fire, my first reflex will be to stop the car and go out of it as quickly as possible, not thinking about stopping fire before. Then, if I can try to stop fire without too much risk, I will try. So.....

Garrett,
Yeah, I have to sit a little farther back in order to have enough headroom. I'm not sure I could reach a pull there, so just thought I'd ask the question.
The installation looks very cool - you've done a fine job!
