Default Thing on my mind a few weeks, Lowering the 964..

As the banner says, I think about lowering my car to a RS ride height. Any suggestions to do this pretty luw budget? I don't want to install new shocks, onky springs. Which brand is the one with the most profit on drivebility?

What about just using RS Euro springs? The valving of the dampers will almost certainly be different but if you have the geometry set up correctly then the dampers should still be operating within their piston range and therefore ought to be okay. The only problem is that the geo setup might cost you more than the damned springs?

Never an easy way out?!!

Actually, I'm going to lower my C2 daily driver on a real low budget...$65American. I recently put on new, but, stock shocks. I have about an 1 1/2 inches of thread adjustments on the rear shocks, so I think I can lower enough there. I bought a pair of lowering collars for the front shocks for $65. So, with a few hours work and $65 I'll be there...not bad, eh?

Arjan

Please bear in mind the quality of the roads you drive on, speed humps and kerbs etc...sometimes RS height is just a little bit of a pain the *** as you can ground out or hit the front splitter...i would suggest say 10mm or so higher just for a safety margin...

I would also suggest though that you wait and find a bigger budget and do everything in one go....its always going to be cheaper in the long run especially if you have old shocks now which will need changing anyway...

Just some thoughts....

Agree with Christer. Set the car lower with old shocks, and they then working in "new territory" . I believe that may result in earlier failure. Why do a job twice? Perhaps you can find a deal like I did and buy a used "package" of springs & shocks. It is unbelievable what a good set of Konis, progressive springs and larger rear sway bar will do!

To bad its so far to the netherlands. I have a kit in the garage from before my RS-kit.

The HR-springs are only used some months.

I'm pretty positive that genuine Euro RS springs will be too short for standard shocks and your car will end up looking like a slammed California hotrod. Its unfortunate because genuine RS springs were cheaper than aftermarket H&R and Eibach.

Ok, mine on the pictures are totaly standard but with almost new HR lowering-springs.
I have no use for it so if anyone needs it just give me a bid by mail.

On my car they started with the Hr-springs and then they went the whole way whith RS springs, shocks and so on.

Arjan- I have a dig camera, but am not bright enough to use it. The combination of Eibach progressive springs and Koni adjustables, rear 22m bar is outstanding. The guys at PCA used to ribe mercilessly about my C4 being a Baja special. Now it LOOKS wonderful- down low with the best of them, but perhaps most important the handling is WONDERFUL. The progressives still give a civilized ride. They are really only noticeable during hard cornering, when needed. I believe that by lowereing the center of gravity by 1-1/2" things have gotten quite a bit betterunder all conditions except perhaps during snow accumulations. My neighbors approve of my new snow plow!

Don't forget that springs are NOT an item to be cheap on!
All the handling of the car depends on it.
