Another question for the suspension buffs out there. If one is planning to keep the ride height std, do you have to stick with the Boge's, or can you fit Bilstein for example?
Bilsteins will work fine w/stock springs.

The HD's that work on my '90 have the same type of threaded spring perch to allow proper corner balance.

Jim & BGL

Thanks for the info guys. Think I will look at the H&R and Bilstein combo. At 83K on the original shocks I think they are due for a change!

Another vote from me for the H&R matched dampers and springs. I fitted them to my 1990 C2 and the difference was quite staggering. The turn in became pin-sharp and the ride was massively improved over the original boge set-up. Mine had started to 'crash' over the bumps here in the UK. The car was a daily driver, so ride comfort is important to me - the H&R was fine. Incidentally, whilst the kit came packaged as H&R, the dampers are bilstein and the springs are eibach...!!

The other secret is to not be tempted to lower the car too much, this actually compromises the handling rather than improving it.

Rob,

How do you find coping with speed humps after having your C2 lowered?

You do have to take them a little slower Andy, but it's not prohibitively different. The addition of a splitter on my car tended to slow me down over the humps more than the lowering did.

Rob

Out of interest where did you get your kit from? I have been looking at the one from Type 911 which is H&Rs and Bilsteins.

Chris,

I got the kit from Type 911 - what turned up was Cargraphic springs and Bilsteins, but the Cargraphics are made by H+R

I got mine from Motorsport Wheels (www.mswuk.com) about two and a half years ago. About £800 from memory. MSW supply a lot of the independant specialists which was let slip by one of them...!! I went straight to the supplier and cut out the middle man.

Has anyone used the H&R coil over kits? I think these retail for ~$2300 US. Is this setup much different than going with H&R springs and separate Bilstein shocks and struts?

Please note however that at the same time I changed down from 18" to 17" wheels which will also have made a difference.
Jim,

Your car looks great. Could you post another/more pics of your car - full view.

Thanks!
