Actually the oxygen sensor heater receives 12 volts through DME relay contact 87b and that happens after terminal 85 goes to ground. So a bad DME relay can affect the heating of the O2 sensor.

IIRC Adrian has said before that teh DME allows the O2 sensor to be heated during the initial warmup phase, I'm not sure of the duration though.

In this thread Loren also mentions about O2 sensors having effects on idling, so I'd go here or at least make sure the path from DME relay to 02 sensor heater is ok.

Ah - apologies for getting it wrong then. I've never seen that mentioned anywhere before.

But - if the car is stalling from a totally cold start, the O2 sensor is not being used by the DME (even if it's being heated) so I would still doubt that's the problem.

Thanks Chaps - I feel like I hijacked this thread a bit since I didn't start it but then the advice you all kindly gave will help the original poster too since his fault is similar/the same as mine!

Does anyone have the values for a working cylinder head sensor in terms of resistance so I can test it?

I am too dirty from taking apart my car to go in the bedroom to grab my book - but it is in Adrian's book somewhere; I think in the trouble shooting section of the back of the book.

here are the settings to look for on terminal 45 and 30:

0 degrees C = 4.4-6.9 k-ohms
15-30 = 1.4-3.6 k-ohms
40 = 1-1.3 k-ohms
80 = 250-390 ohms
100 = 160-210 ohms
