Default 964 Fuel Cells

Over the winter I'm planning to add a fuel cell to my 965. A 965 is a 964 Turbo, which is very thirsty. Fuel Safe makes both a 27 gal and 32 gal fuel cell for the 964. If there are no downsides, I'd use the 32 gal as that (hopefully) would allow me to complete a 1.5 hour enduro with no refueling.

Anyone had any experience with the larger fuel cells? Specifically, I'm interested if there is a way to use the stock fuel guage and also the LF fuel door.

Thanks.

I run a 32 gallon Premier fuel cell in my race car. I've got a dry break on the fuel cell with a cut-out in the hood so I can't really help with the fuel door issue. (now that I think about it for a minute, I don't see how this would work. The fuel cell is HUGE. If you want to use the existing fuel door, the fuel filler neck will need to enter the cell somewhere on the side...probably not what you want!)

As far as the fuel guage goes, mine hasn't worked since the day I bought the car. The PO SWEARS that it was working before he sold it to me. I know that the guage is a stock unit. This is something that I will be looking into over the winter.

Not to quibble, but I have a reference that states gasoline weighs 5.74 lb/gallon. When I fly, I figure critical weight and balance calculations using 6 lb/gallon for the weight of avgas. 32 gallons of gas weighs 184 lb, or 192 lb if you use the more conservative aviation value..

Specific gravity of petrol/gasoline is 0.720, ie 72% of water.
1 litre of water weighs 1 kilo
1 UK gallon = 4.546 litres
1 kilo = 2.205 pounds
ergo
1 UK gallon weighs 0.72 x 4.546 x 2.205 = 7.217 pounds

This is the formulae I used to guess the dry weight of my car.

Another fine example of why the whole world should be metric.
