Default Which was does the Clutch disc go?

Forgot to ask this question,

On the clutch disc 964.116.011.61, one side of the disc has the center part of the disc elevated or thicker than the otherside. My question is does that elevated center face towards the flywheel or the pressure plate?

According to my mechanic, when he removed the clutch, the side that has the elevated center part was facing the flywheel, but from working on other vehicles the elevated center part was facing the pressure plate.

Which way does it go in?

We both check the Porsche Services Manuals Vol 2, Section 32 Clutch but it does not tell how to put it in.

Any help would be great.

Thanks
GP

Oh, btw the clutch above has 4 springs in the center I guess to dampen vibrations.

The side with the elevated springs should face the engine.

Oh, not so simple...... do you have the original dual mass flywheel? If so, then it goes one way....... if you have the light weight flywheel, it goes the other way........ or if you have some other setup, you better put it back the way it was originally......

The good news, is that if you put it in backwards, you will know immediately after you start the car....... sparks out the little opening in the bottom of the bell housing, and a nice loud squeal........

Also, after you pull it apart, all you should need to change is the guide tube..... since it got machined by the clutch disc center..........

If you have a ZFSachs or OE Porsche RS spring centered clutch disc it should say "getriebeseite" (Gearbox side) on the elevated side. You don't want to use a spring centered clutch disc with a dual-mass flywheel. You loose most of the benefits of a DM flywheel (less mass connected to the transmission that needs to be syncronized during gearshifts) and its more expensive.
