Default 964 trivia question....?

Hi all,

I watched a movie last night with the family, "The Day After Tomorrow". A Porsche gets squashed by a bus flying through the air during a tornado. The driver of the Porsche gets into the car from the left side, the camera shows him getting seated, and then shows him turning the ignition......Okay, now push the pause button!

The driver uses his right had on the ignition...because the ignition is on the right side of the steering wheel. The gauges in the blurred background look standard Porsche.

Question? Were there any left wheeled cars made with the usual "American" setup of having the ignition on the right side of the steering whee? OR was this just a fabrication of "Hollywood" for camera angle/problems?

I know, silly question, but you don't see very many Porsches in film.

Thanks,
John

I suspect the director knew that the vast majority of the viewers wouldn't have the slightest idea what the actor was doing had he used his left hand to start the car . . .

maybe the only way to get the shot was if they used the right hand , as the driver will have shut the door on entering , and the door would then have been shown to be open ?
