Default Strange sound

From inside the car, I can hear what sounds like waves on a beach, a kind of whooshing noise every 5-10 seconds it's quite faint but loud enough to hear below 40mph. Any idea what this is?

I'm not worried, just wonder what it is.

Hi Leo,

I get a sloshing noise from the rear of my car (like water flowing through a tube) right after firing up the engine. It stays like that for a few minutes before it subsides.

Now, I always thought it was the oil pumping through the pipes, but it’s just a guess.

Could it be your cold air fan cycling on & off? This is the fan in the dash. I can't remember the cause for this though!

Or your headlight level switch is leaking air. Mine did it and it was one of the
pipes had come adrift.

Cheers,

Definetely not the oil which I can hear to my right, gurgling away especially when I've just started up. This noise carries on when the car is warm.

Andy, your suggestion sounds the most feasible, although I get the sound when the fan is in the off position (no air-con on my car). It seems to be coming from the middle of the dash although is hard to pin down.

Leo,

Even when the fan is in the off position, it runs on a low speed! ie. position 0 is lowest speed, & not off!
