I put it in this afternoon. Fits like a glove and color coordinated! HA! It was actually a little shorter than the other battery... Giving me a little more space to store my jack handle. (It was a very tight fit before.) I tucked the vent tube out of the way. Is that what everyone else is doing? Or are you just removing the tubing? I'm still thinking that these things need some sort of ventilation. But if everyone else has been using these for years... I'll make a leap of faith.

Thanks for everyone's input!

Rick

Your welcome guys. Glad to be of assistance! Now, anybody wants to help me with CV Boot replacement?

I remember doing that years ago on my Honda... If it's anything like that you'll have a lot of fun!

Are you rebuilding or replacing? If you are rebuilding you should be able to pretty much follow the pelican article for the 993. There are some slight differences between the 993 & 964 CV joint and apparently some differences between the CV from tiptronic and manual cars. (Axle dimensions?)

I hope I'm just replacing the torned boots on the transmission side. I can't tell if the joints need to be replaced until I get the axel out. From what I'm reading, it seems to be a very straight forward job, just very messy. I just wished there were more documentation in the factory wrokshop manual on this topic.

PS. Jason, Thanks for the link! It answered some questions I had.

Peter: Good luck. I had a "simple" torn boot on my right rear that needed repair in February. The repair was to replace both rear axels (shot), the suspension (front shocks shot), the steering rack ends, and a bunch of other rubber stuff. It was old, worn and in decay. Car runs a lot better, but my wallet was lighter.

Funny thing Tom, I was just reading your post on the CV boot replacement and praying to god it does not happen to me. I'll know this Friday when I receive the parts and go about replacing it. Hopefully it's just the boots or I'll be forced to miss my DE at WSIR this weekend.
