Could have been much worse.
Only apparent damage is on the photo, although the wishbone on that side is likely.

Looks like the wheel caught some too!
I just replaced the left rear bumper cover -- got it for $279 from a discount parts dealer (in US) vs. $538 from the local Porsche dealer. I assume you have discount parts folk available in UK?

We sorted Michelle out with the MX5 and I went out for another session. I had done 3 laps (2.75 miles per lap) and was working my way up to full pace, starting to set my braking points. I had been able to get on the power early at the corner before the pit straight ( Lodge corner) and was fast down the straight ( Michelle had seen 120mph in the earlier session ) and started braking at my designated point for the next corner (Old Hall). I had slowed satisfactorly and was tapering the brakes off when I downshifted..................
Up until then I had been having a good day. While I am sure over what happened next, I am not 100% sure why.
As soon as I downshifted the adrenalin started to flow and I knew I had a problem but I was on my turn in point and you have to turn in, as its at the point where the kerb bind right with the corner, or else your on the grass into the gravel and then the tyre wall. Turn in speed is about 70mph and the instant I turned in I had massive oversteer. Instinctively put on full opposite lock but still went past 90 degrees in an instant at which point I bailed out and put both feet in and let go of the wheel and ended up going backwards locked up.
I thought I had got away with it as most of the speed had been disapated but ended up on the grass where braking isn't very effective and hit the armco on the inside of the turn, which is only about 10ft in here, with a gentle thump.
Session was stopped and I drove back to the pits. Michelle came over, checked out the damage and swore at me. Instructor came over, sympathised over the damage, asked if something had broken going into the corner. I don't think so. I think I shifted to 1st instead of 3rd. Instructor says that would do it.
Later in the day another instructor who saw the event said I lost it under braking and agreed that a mis shift would be the most plausable way of spinnig in that way ( no one ever spins to the inside at this turn, - normal accident is to go straight on at turn in point)
Michelle said the car gave a loud exhaust bang before the spin ( it does pop and bang on the over run).
Only thing is I can't recall the engine screaming.
Wheel has had it but body work repair should be inexpensive. Jury is out on the wishbone until it has been aligned.
