Question HELP fan belt problem

Hey guys,

i just replaced a defective alternator; I did the same job last summer (fortunately it was covered under the warranty)... but here's my problem: for some reason this time my fan belt isnt catching, and the fan wont turn. The shaft and other belts turn; the belt in question seems a little lose and from what i can tell isnt getting the tension it needs to turn the fan. Do you think I just need a new belt or did I do something wrong? Do belts just stretch out like that, my only experiences is a belt either tearing a bit, or breaking completely. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! I figured I'd check with you guys before I moved forward with a plan of action~!

Ken.

If I understand your problem's description correctly, it SOUNDS like you need to take some of those thin spacers out between the pulley halves. That will tighten up the belt.
