LIke most of you, I'm not really joyful about the 997, but can't say I hate it either ... somehow in pics it looks smaller, stubbier .... interesting. In person, it will certainly look different. But I like the wheels (in the pic Dove posted) better than in others I've seen.

I'm pretty sure btw that most of us aren't in the market demographic for the car in any case, so I doubt Porsche cares that much what we think! Maybe they listen more to Doug.

Now I think of it: where is he?

I'm going to hold my opinion on the looks of the 997 until I see it in person. I know that I'm not overly impressed with the looks of the 996 in pictures, but in person it's a whole other beast. Maybe that's how it will be with the 997. But I will agree on the tires. They look like my spare before it's inflated.

We were at Rector in Burlingame yesterday afternoon. We went there to look at a 2000 996 and my fiance ended up falling in love with the 40th Anniverary model! They were setting up for the big 997 intro - I didn't rate an invitation so I skipped the ceremonies.

Now, ain't that the truth...!

I do like some of the visual cues to older cars in the 997's interiors. I'll pass judgement on the car when I see it in two weeks at our local unveiling...

You guys are WAAAAAY off on your critique of the 997 - saw two today at the dealer, and WOW - the interior is a whole new level, the S model in particular is absolutely stunning - such hips.

The thing looks mean....
