Question Windshield coated on '92 964's ???

I just recieved my new Escort 8500 X50... Felt it was probably a wise idea to add this to my newly acquired rocket... But as my luck would have it there's a caution note in the Escorts owners manual;

Caution!
A few vehicles (including some Porsches) have windshields with a soft anti-lacerative coating on the inside surface. Use of suction cups will permanently mar this coating. Consult your dealership or the vehicle owners manual to determine if your windshield has this coating.

I didn't see anything... Anybody know for certain one way or the other?

I had the same concerns when I received my Escort Solo S2. No problems on my 90 C2 with the windshield and the Solo works great.

I think my '93 C2 has that coating on the inside of the windshield. I removed an inspection sticker and -- stupidly and unknowingly -- used a razor to help scrape away the sticky stuff. You can see the scratching it made. Luckily, it's in an out-of-the-way place.

All glass has plastic sandwiched in between two layers of glass. I know Valentine notes in their documentation that there are some tintings that affect radar detectors, and I'd guess the interior coatings are a very recent development, thus not affecting our 964's.

Tell me about it! I put the Escort on it anyway.. rather have the mar than a ticket... I went to a shop down here that has good rep for working on 911's (I had the guys name too).. Went in and introduced myself and said I hear you will be new best friend! He cracked up and said you must boughta a Porsche! He said please tell me it's a 911 and not a 944 or 928... He's going to go over the car with me tomorrow morning and show me how some of the stuff works (like the AC) and see if there's anything else to keep my on... I think the P-Gods and the boat Gods are gangin up on me!
