I ended up having to purchase a fuel tank.
I’d like to say to Porsche a big F You for your $3300 piece of plastic. You should be working harder to provide reasonable solutions for the quality vehicles of your past instead of wasting money on E vehicles to appease EU soy boy committees or pandering to the allocation boys who line up for the hope to buy a watercooled wonder. Seriously F you.
I’d like to thank Autobahn (Mike) for providing a reasonably priced and excellent condition used tank.
The swap went very well and the car is back on the road
I plan to take my old tank to a friend with a machine shop to see if he can develop a repair kit similar to those that work in 944/928s. Just not sure how it can be done without cutting a new hole in the tank.

Glad it all got sorted. Mike is definitely the go-to. He's helped me out on a few occasions with parts. And just so I understood correctly. As long as you have a 964 part number for the fuel tank we won't have to worry about messing with the weird pump configuration on a 993 fuel pump?

Yes from what I read and what was posted above you will be best served by giving Mike your tank part number (not the evaporator tank number) and the year of your car.
