Default Mint Green Interior Makeover - Phase 1

It's time to change things up a bit... Such a spectacular exterior colour needs to have an interior to compliment, IMO. I don't have any real issues with the current mostly black interior but the red bits don't really work with the Mint Green and although the OEM Recaro Speedster seats are incredible, they just don't have the same pop as the RS seats with the gradient cushion panels. I've been thinking up some options for years now and finally put the first phase of an interior project into process this winter. This first phase really just focuses on removing the red pieces, adding some very custom replacement inserts for the speedster seats and some other minor green leather door elements. Future phases are TBD but will likely focus on a ***** out leather f-ing everywhere sonderwunsch approach.

I'm fortunate to have Rod / Classic 9 Leathershop within a 45minute drive - he's done several projects for me over the years and provides not only impeccable levels of quality and craftman/craftswomanship but also great advice and guidance on materials and application. This provides a great deal of confidence to let the imagination run free...

AI may well ruin us all one day, but I have to say that my girl Gemini is bloody helpful for certain things...! My expensive Adobe design suite license expired a while ago and I just decided to see if I could live without Pshop - which has been my go-to for all visualizations for 20+ years... While AI can't yet understand everything I want it to in my prompts, its faster and less hassle - and of course improving relentlessly.

So I visited Rod several weeks ago with some basic ideas and he showed me some leather supplier options that he's been very happy with - after grabbing images of certain actual leather colours that I liked I got with Gemini and started the tedious but rewarding process of designing a new set of inserts for the recaros and other simple elements to remove the red.

Here's the starting point:

I found a good picture of a pair of 964RS seats and used that to create dozens of variations for the inserts - starting off by using the factory layout, However as I evolved the design I decided to add in a couple of leather panel sections and one more colour to balance the gradient. If there is interest, I'm happy to post some of the variations I created during the evolution of the design I decided to move forward with:

I then used Gemini to transfer the seat insert design into my actual interior. This was the most frustrating part because regardless of how I instructed or the detail I provided, AI just could not transfer the insert design accurately - the middle panel in the bottom section is the wrong green... Oh well. However the seatbelts, door pulls, door handles were rendered quite accurately - the steering wheel still needs work.

Everything is in the works and should be ready for me to collect in a couple of weeks. I stopped by C9 today to drop off a length of the the seatbelt material for Rod to make the pull loops with and while there he gave me some nice swatches of the leathers that had come back from the perforating process - It was nice to see them IRL against the paint.

I'll update once I have the various pieces back from Rod.

Looks great!
I would stay with the 2 panels on the seatbacks/flats. 3 gives it away as not original, kind of spoils it in my eyes.

Not everything has to look original, modifying stuff to your tastes should be the norm.

Other than the mint green paint and engine case, originality is long gone on this 964.

I did try several configurations with 2 panels in the back and **** sections but with the colours I wanted to go with, nothing really appealed. Each to their own.
