Due to a recent problem with my A/C compressor I've decided to dive into Adrian's book and figure out exactly how the system works. I was just wondering if anyone knew which components the numbers in diagram #0081819 referred to. I'm pretty sure that 3 is the evaporator, 2 is the receiver/dryer, and 1 is the compressor, but what are #s 4 and 5? Is 5 the evaporator? Did I miss the part of the book that explains the diagram?

if you are referring to page 341 my guess would be
1. compressor
2. receover/drier
3. condenser
4. 3 level pressure switch/expansion valve
5. evaporator

If you are planning to open the system, it is recommended to replace the receiver/drier.
