Rennline’s Phone Mount for the F/G Body, 964, and 993s aren’t the strongest hold. It attaches to the clock and although a great design, it is useless with a heavier phone. One bump in the road and your phone goes flying. I upgraded my iPhone and I didn’t want to run the thin metal plate inside my phone case since it scratches the backing. The 4 round neodymium magnets from Rennline’s mount just doesn’t cut it with a silicone case either. Instead I bought a 20 magnet Mag-Safe style ball mount made by Rigdance. It’s much stronger and the built in metal ring inside the case makes it all the more solid.

Nice! You could also get one that is a charger as well as a mount. We have these in a few of our cars - including the 964 with Rennline mount - and they work very well if you don't want to spend $95 on the one from Rennline:

I did the same but replaced the magnet for a slide-in mount. Very happy with the result. Felt that weak magnets cause the phone to drop and strong ones move when removing the phone. The slide-in mount stays in place.

I had the same problem with the Rennline phone mount. Take a corner briskly and half the time the phone ends up on the floor. Hard braking or full throttle start? Same. I went to a hardware store and found a flat piece of metal in their hinge and bracket section. It's probably a little more than twice as thick as the wimpy plates that came with the mount. My phone has yet to fall off since. Cost? Maybe a dollar.

I mounted a wireless charging mag mount to the trans tunnel, and power it off the rear USB port on my Bremen. I hate having phones up high.
