Default Intermittent Oil Warning Light

Hope someone can point me in the right direction.

I'm getting an occasional oil warning light on the dash. It comes on and triggers the main warning triangle lights up. Then it will go out again a few seconds later. It seems to happen more when the engine is hot but the oil quantity is fine checked on dipstick and dash gauge, oil pressure is normal in all conditions, engine temp is normal.

Almost like a loose connection or a malfunctioning level sender or...?

Any ideas gratefully received.

Mark

I would start with checking wiring for chafing, cracks in isolation. Oxide on connector to oil pressure switch/sender.

If that is all good then replace oil pressure switch/sender. There is a nice guide here on the forum.

You say oil pressure is good. What's your gauge saying when the warning light comes on?
What oil are you running?
The most likely explanation is that your oil pressure sensor is failing. It's an easy repair but to get to it you need to remove a bunch of the intake stuff on the passenger side.

I'm thinking oil pressure sensor too. Running Brad penn as usual and the gauges don't change when the warning comes up.

Where is the sensor? Thought it was in the oil tank rear right side..?

Thanks for the suggestions

Mark

That's the oil level sender. The pressure sender is on the right rear of the engine (on top of the block)

So your oil pressure gauge shows pressure above 1 when the warning comes on? Usually the warning trigger is accompanied by a pressure drop below 1, even just a short one.
I would still try to eliminate the pressure sensor as the cause but this might be electrical, unfortunately much harder to trace. The good news is that it maybe instrumentation rather than actual mechanical engine problems.
