Default Forever Black

Anyone used this product for wheels or their bumnper and trim reconditioner?

I just recieved both applications from Performance Products today and am a little wary of applying without first hearing any testimonials!

Hahdmus!!!

Do NOT use it!!! I Used a similar product for my VW Golf III (not performance products but "Riwax"), I used to have, and the result was a mess and looked like sh.t two weeks after!!!

It looked superb for about one week and then a sort of black scruffy peeling skin developed all over the plastic parts I treated with the stuff!! It became worse as I washed the car with a high pressure hose, leaving parts of the plastic covered with the black stuff and other without (looked like the skin of an ill dalmatian dog if you see what I mean). Remind that I followed strictly the instructions on the bottle, cleaning all the plastic part (i.e. degreasing them and getting rid of all silicone residuals)

I would treat my plastic trim with the stuff from Zaino or Zymöl (I use Zymöl and I'm happy), or another reputed brand who knows what to put in their stuff to renew 12 year old black plastic.

Just my two cents...as always

Thomas

For all the black bits of trim on my car I use Autoglym Bumper Care which brings everything up a treat and seems to last pretty well without any adverse effects.

Yup, I'll second the vote for Autoglym Bumper Care. Great stuff.

.... and a third. I did the black plastic top of the rear spoiler a few weeks back and it came up a treat.

...and a fourth. It's good stuff, easy to use, it works and it doesn't make a mess of everything it touches.

I wasn't going to mention it seeing as you've just bought something. Also, I thought it might only be available in Britain - obviously not.

Howard, I recall someone posting (sorry to be so vague) that The original Forever Black was pretty good stuff but then had been taken off the market, someone bought the name and re-constituted the formula and it gave poor results. That may be what is happening here ... whatever, it sounds like a no-go. Joe W.
