Default New Owner Hello

I've officially departed from the port of 992 ownership, and landed squarely in 964 town. I just wanted to say hi, and create an reason to post a photo or three. I'm the 3rd owner, original paint, and a largely stock car. It will likely remain very stock, other than quality of life improvements and things of that ilk. I've got a full elephant racing suspension refresh along with KW coilovers on the way. That's step 1 for me, and looking forward to sharing those photos and impressions after install.

Congratulations for selling a depreciating watercooler and making a smart investment in air cooled, hand built, real Porsche machinery.
You’ll spend a bit right now to make it the way you want it. But as long as you don’t have anything catastrophic like an engine rebuild you will be sitting very pretty on the flip side of this momentarily lapsing market. When the bubble starts inflating again 964s are going to go huge.

Welcome!
You may miss (a bit) of the modern performance, but you're gonna love it once you get it dialed in.

Congrats that is a beauty! I too just sold my 992 GTS for a 964 Targa. Air cooled bug has bitten me hard - already had an 85 3.2 M491 Targa and 95 C2 993. Every time I drove my 992 I just thought I’d rather be in one of my air cooled.

What brought you to move on from the 992? Alway interested to hear from someone else that did the same move as me.

What happened to all the drivers? Post-covid seems to be worlds of speculators only caring about $$$

I drive my 964 Targas. Both have less than 20K miles so it really costs me in depreciation. It’s comforting to know in a few years it won’t matter as the appreciation will outpace any depreciation from miles I put on them enjoying them.
Nothing wrong with enjoying cars and keeping your money.

Congrats, and welcome!Great looking car with those BBS wheels. The suspension refresh will transform this car, and bring it down to proper RS ride height. Looking forward to watching the progress.

Love hearing it. The 964 is slowly becoming one of the most difficult cars to buy. Enjoy it in good health and I love your vision for the car. Suspension refresh along with the BBS is pretty near perfection.

It’s customary for new guys to send everyone a Montecristo No. 2.

As a fairly new owner I can say, you've made a great choice. I have a few water cooled 911's as well and the 964 is just a different and special thing.
Growing up driving old hopped up VW bugs, it brings back so much nostalgia for me. But it's as close to a VW Bug as I'd ever dare go LOL.
Wife and kids even like riding in it. The wife won't ride in the GT3. Too Loud, too Bumpy, I drive like an ******* yadayadayada.

Back in the day, my first Porsche was a '66 3-gauge 912. Got it in the 2010s before the bubble for a sub $15k price.

When I moved out of Calif, I ended up selling it to fund a house purchase. Maybe about 4 years ago I bought a 992 S, then a T, then a GT3, and then a GT3 Touring. The Touring was probably the closest to my idealized Porsche experience but living in Chicago, driving a fast car slow is more futile than it is rewarding. Ultimately, putting a big return back into my account, and owning something more inline with that experience I've been chasing just made too much sense.

Coilovers are about 2 weeks out, and then the work begins! I'm excited to see the KWs, I bought the V3 in the classic version, so they're all black/silver rather than yelow/purple.
