I've rarely seen them on 964s, mostly on the speedsters although I'm sure plenty others were actually optioned with them. I personally cannot stand body-colored wheels, but I can see why some folks would like them.

They seem to be more common on the earlier impact bumper cars and later 993.
I’ve yet to see a 964 with a matching set of 16”-17” Fuchs…

You've never seen color matched Fuchs on a 964 because they were never an option. The largest OEM Fuch is 16" and came on the G50's which were the wrong offsets for a 964.

Exactly, there never were Fuchs for 964s. The only body colored ones I've ever seen are the centers of the 3 piece speediness (Sonderwunsch Turbos are all I've seen like this) and the cup 1s (the speedster reference I made above - plenty of those have painted cup 1s) like shown above. That green 964 with green D90s is the first I've ever seen those body colored - and for good reason, that is a hideous wheel.
It's a cool option I guess - mostly neat because it existed, like so many interesting things that Porsche has pulled off over the years. I mostly like the 18" speedline look when the center is color matched, as above.
Did you guys get 968s over there? Almost feels like it's rarer to see a 968 without body coloured wheels, but maybe that's because there are more Clubsports than 'normal' 968s actually being used?
