Default Can't remove chain housing?

I'm in the middle of a reseal and having trouble getting the cam housings off. Seems to get hung up here at this point and won't come off further. What am I missing?

It's not where the housing is hitting the cam. Feels like it may be related to the chain or bottom chain guide?

Does the bottom chain guide have to come out completely first? I've pulled the bolt holding it to the case.

You have to take of the chain guide (the black one). Note that this is a single use thing which will break of two tiny pieces which can fall/jump into the crankcase.

Thank you, that was it. Didn't realize I had to fully remove the lower guide.

You're welcome.
Don't forget that these guides are really single use; do not install them back even if they are not broken.

Why do you think they are single use? I agree that you should replace them while you are in there. Mine had pretty deep groves from the chain but I didn't see anything that failed or could have failed when I took them out.

The more important task - I think - I to mark you relative chain and sprocket position. Otherwise you will have to redo your cam timing completely. It can be done in the car but is a bit of a pita.

I'm guessing the idea is that these plastic guides are probably rather brittle by now. If you reuse them, they may break apart in service and you've got to tear everything back apart again.
