Default Engine capsule foam

Hey all,

Does anyone know if you can buy the sound foam that fits the Capsule tin ware?

Mine has disintegrated totally and the new tinware is quite expensive.

Cheers

Alex

Hi, I don’t know whether you can buy the heat shield foam. I bought a roll of volcanic heat shield. Cut it to shape, and glued the sheet onto the shield with high temperature glue. Works great, and it is all still there after 4 years.

Hey,

Thanks for the pictures and gives me some ideas now. I think we have something similar here in some shops I can check out.

Big thanks for that

You really don't want that foam in there. Let the air circulate...but if it's a museum piece and needs the oem parts...maybe...

I think that foam padding was primarily a noise control measure, just like the under tray, to comply with stricter noise emission laws in Europe. I have lost mine years ago and just run the plastic pieces as a splash guard.

You have to buy the pieces complete and are very expensive assuming still available. I removed all but the rear insulating panels they just collect dirt and oil.

Cheers for all your comments.

You could also use the gold heat reflective polymer tape, good for up to 800 F
My long neck pipe almost touches the heat shield so it made sense.

Nice to know there are options. I am looking at this stuff. Anyone tried it? I think it helps retain the original look. It is fibreglass and silver mylar.

Or ditch it all and move the heat shielding to the source of the heat at the exhaust pipe?

Or Jet Hot coat your exhaust which will reduce heat by 65%….or so they say.
