If they're shiny, I'll just go find that rice citation!!!

Looks like you're spending some money on the pinstripe!! (I've been away for a while!).

Good luck with it - hope it kicks *** - though Dove's 550..er Boxster will blow you away and not costs £20k in maintenance......

Ah yes, the ricer citation. Thanks, John, for keeping the order around here. I believe, however, that you need genuine chrome to cross the line, so Tim should get off with just a warning (especially since I have the same polished wheels ).

Christer, Have you weighed these wheels and tires? I just pulled out my finely-tuned bathroom scale and my 993 cups with new, ultra-light Toyo Proxes T1-S's came out to:

Front: 40.5 lbs
Rear: 45.5 lbs

According to Toyo's website, the 225/255 tires run 20.9 and 23.1 lbs respectively. This nets out wheel weights of 19.6 and 22.4 lbs front and rear for the Cup II's which is just about what I expected.
BTW, Those wheels look great! Nice choice!

Yep, I'm in agreement with Joey, shiny is different to chrome in the ricer stakes, chrome (IMHO) crosses the line, Christers wheels (and other polished alloys) don't.

Well, I'm not sure you'll be hounded, just that the bling bling sound from your car may be traceable to the wheels :-))

I guess I'm more inclined to think rice when I see chromed wheels or suspension parts because most (if not all) chroming processes weaken the original metal/alloy. So it really is form over function. Team Lotus in the 1960's used to chrome the suspension parts of their F1 cars until they realized a stream of component failures were directly attributable to this. If you search the 993 board you'll also see a number of chrome wheels that have split or had chunks fall off.

they where hollow spokes ??

i was gonna go with the painted centres , but was undecided , so i put a painted on the rear and a bling on the front .

when i pushed the car outside to transport it to 9m , the bling looked better !!!

think i'll go with bling until people throw things at me as a drive down the street , then i'll change back

Hi Joey, no I haven't. I know the whole set of wheels weighs just 30.6kgs or 67.6lbs - an average of 16.9lbs per wheel - which I believe is lighter than even the D90's...

Hi Arjan

You will see them at the Ring if:

1. I get my car back from 9M by then...

2. There are no fitment issues

3. I can actually make it on 4th July....

Other than that, definitely!!

Hi Kevin

The fuel rails and intake are just being installed, and cam timing to be completed ASAP today. It looks likely at this stage that the engine will be complete on the stand by the end of today (hopefully), then it has to be installed in the car tomorrow. Motec parts are all there, so most of that will be fitted today/tomorrow. I decided to go for for RS clutch and LWF in the end so if anyone wants a clutch (lightly used 10K miles..) let me know.

It is looking tight for the weekend, but I will keep my fingers crossed as usual. If everything goes smoothly though it does look likely that I will be driving again at the weekend.....
