Hi everyone - Very excited to join the group. I'm about to take possession of a 1992 964 C2 in Guards Red with grey interior. See pic below. It was my Dad's car, so means a lot to me and I'm very excited to keep it in the family. Looking for some guidance/advice please. I'm 6'2 and every time I've driven the 964, I've had to put the seat all the way back, which means driving with my arms fully extended which isn't all that comfortable. Would really appreciate some guidance on what aftermarket steering wheel I should consider upgrading to with a deeper dish to bring the wheel closer to me. I've seen the Momo Mod 7 on a friend's 993, but I don't really like how thin the wheel feels in the hand. Is there another aftermarket option that I should consider? I would like to stick with a classic look and am not wanting to go with a modern racy prototipo wheel. Appreciate any and all feedback!

Welcome to the board! Glad you're able to keep the car in the family. I'd love to hand mine down to my kids one day.
You're in good hands, Search is your friend, but so are we!
I'm 6'3" and also have my seat pretty far back. Lucky or not, I have shorter legs so I don't have to sit all the way back.
Arms stretched is still an issue though.

I do have the Prototipo MOMO wheel which is pretty shallow in depth. So, I'm going to add either an extender or go with a quick release here.
If I read it correctly, the quick release adds another 2.3" which would put it in a perfect spot for me.

Good luck, and welcome to Rennlist!

Welcome @TFarm ! As @klokwerk mentions, a steering hub extender should do the trick. I'm 6'2" and also have the seat extended all the way. Long reach though so I don't need to fully extend my arms.

Enjoy the ride,
Ken D

Recover the Momo wheel so it's thicker.

Thanks fellas. Appreciate the warm welcome and advice. I ordered the Porsche Classic Sport all black wheel (which has some dish to it) and the momo hub adapter. Pic below of what was ordered. Hopefully it works out well.

How do you avoid having the airbag light on if you replace the original steering wheel?

I'd love a club sport wheel!

There is another way I did on a previous 964.
Porsche sell an adaptor kit that goes under centre console and was cheap $20 a few years ago.

Welcome to the group! We're thrilled to have you here and congratulations on acquiring your Dad's 1992 964 C2 in Guards Red with a grey interior. It's wonderful that you're keeping it in the family, as it holds significant sentimental value. Your article beautifully captures your excitement and the importance of preserving this special car.

Regarding your inquiry about an aftermarket steering wheel, it's crucial to find a balance between comfort and maintaining a classic look. Have you considered the Momo Prototipo Heritage? It retains the classic aesthetics you desire while offering a deeper dish, bringing the wheel closer to you for a more comfortable driving position. This way, you can enjoy a vintage feel without compromising on ergonomics.

As you embark on this journey with your treasured car, why not express your individual style with lil peep outfits from Jacket's MOB? Their unique collection captures the essence of Lil Peep's iconic fashion, allowing you to make a statement that resonates with your personal taste. Explore Jacket's MOB and discover the perfect Lil Peep outfits to complement your driving experience. We wish you countless memorable moments and enjoyable drives in your 964 C2!

Welcome and nice choice. You will also need to order the horn contact (Part# 964-652-104-00) and either jump the airbag plug, remove the bulb, or buy the Porsche adapter (Part# 928-612-220-00) to get rid of the airbag light. If you choose the Porsche adapter method, it will disable both airbags.

Regarding the horn, you may need to sightly bend the copper arm for the plate to properly contact the Momo hub, not a big deal and plenty of posts here if you do a search. On mine, I also had to move the wiper/blinker stalk assembly ever so slightly to get it to work without any kinks because it would honk when turning left, which was a bit embarrassing. Easy fix by simply loosening one set screw and tightening it back when done. Also, you may need to slightly sand down your plastic steering column covers if they rub too much on the Momo hub. Take them off, cut a piece of fine sandpaper, wrap it around a can of soup or the like, start sanding by turning the can side to side. This will ensure a nice and even rounded result. Lastly, if the steering wheel is still not close enough, Momo makes a 15mm spacer with matching texture to the hub.

Welcome, @TFarm. I'm also new to my 964, which has a Momo Mod 7. FWIW, my immediate reaction to that steering wheel was "this feels puny." I started researching custom thickening options, and was pretty settled on that route. But it had been years since I'd driven a classic 911, and I was coming from a series of newer Porsches with relatively thick, much larger wheels.

3 months in, I absolutely love the thinner, more delicate feel of the Mod 7 as is. My GT3 wheel now feels comically oversized and clunky by comparison.

No right or wrong here; just a plug for giving it some time to see how it settles in.
