Help needed please
After my first month of 964 ownership I am still completely smitten. It is all I have spent years aspiring to - even though I was very apprehensive over the the first few miles! Thankfully the experience just keeps on getting better and better.
I wonder, though, whether anyone can help with a couple of little niggles. I have searched the board, but have been unable to find a solution yet.
The first problem is the rev counter. It is very reluctant to work first thing in the morning. Dead on start it suddenly moves then sticks again after 2-3 miles. After 10 miles it is working properly. I can't seem to work out whether it's an electrical or mechanical fault. Any subsequent start that day is fine - this time the needle will kick slightly as the ignition comes on, then work fine.
The second one - which may just be a 911 thing - is that at 60mph+ with the sunroof open the area around and under the steering wheel becomes very hot. At first I thought I was about to have a fire, but as I had to shut the roof driving towards rain it got cooler again. Odd I know, but I have repeated this to check. Seems hot air is being drawn up by the pressure effect of opening the roof. I am at a loss to work it out!
Oh, and just to add the necessary detail, 90 C2, Linen metallic grey(just like Adrian's I believe), blue pinstripe interior, 48,000, and a driven daily.
Thanks
Julian

Julian,
It sounds like the heater ducting around your footwells may be deteriorating. These ducts are made of a renforced cardboard type material which ages over time. I do not believe the parts are very expensive though.

Hi Julian
Can't help on the rev counter but you're correct about the pressure difference causing heat to come in around the steering wheel. The paper tubes which channel heat up to the vents and are on either side of the footwell behind the side pannels has a leak.
Hope this helps
