Cannot leave well enough alone. Thinking of adding the factory carbon fibre dash pieces and possible the door pouch pieces. here is a link to the door pouches. I go back and forth big time on whether to do both.

You guys know my car and now that it is a little out there. Do you think the door pouches are way over the top and would it be likely that the grain of these pouches would not exactly match the factory pieces I have installed. I also have carbon fibre sills so it would kind of complete a theme.

Here is a link to the pouches.

Doug,

You really don't require us to sanction this do you? But anyway, they look pretty good, so why not indeed.

Not a R Linton project are they?

Maybe don't need to sanction you guys, but I am curious to what others think about them.

I have been tempted to buy them for the last couple of days. I have literally gone back and forth so many times and looked at car several times trying to imagine what they would look like. Love to know if someone else has used something similar or seen something similar and to see if anyone else think that carpeted door panel would better in carbon fibre.

The carpet is one of my pet hates to be honest, but having a light grey interior means nothing really matches, so it stays as is.
If you like it, and can do it, then why not, its not in the same league as the ****** knickers gearshift.....you once had.....(sorry if the bluntness offends)

"****** Knickers??" In red leather? Wow! Only in Essex! :-)

I'd be concerned about the matching of the CF. I like the idea of CF door pockets but if it was very different in appearance with what you have you might be disappointed.

Ahh go on, go on....well that's enough from father Ted.....

It looks ok Doug, and has to be a damn site better than the carpets, just be carefull when fitting if the older style bins are anything to go by......the screws normally split these fairly easily.

I emailed the seller to ask for a close up showing the pattern. It might look good if the pattern matches. If not, I guess I could always try and re sell it for cheap to get some of my money back. I am just tired of doing this (buying stuff, not liking it, and turning around and selling it at a loss). It is very hard to visualize some of this stuff until you get it and put it in your car to see how it works out.

Have you looked at the RS style doors?

I'm wondering where you are in your weight-reduction program, Doug. (Not yours, actually, but the car's! )

And: do you actually use the door pockets?

What I'm thinking is that the door pockets by themselves look okay for sure. But if they've got torn maps flopping out of them and all the garbage that tends to fill them in my cars, you'll have an entirely different and busy and fugly look after all is done, and that would be too bad, indeed.

Would you be ahead in weight loss, simplification, and so on to just get rid of the door pockets altogether? The CF pockets would be lighter than stock ... but heavier than none .... and much lighter than any with multiple copies of the "Enthusiast's Companion" stuck in them!

But just based on appearance, they look good if you keep them empty and, like you said, the pattern is close enough to what you've got that it doesn't distract. Joe W.

Well, since you asked ...

I think they're pretty damned ugly. If it's weight savings then fine go for it. Otherwise, save the $$ and buy some good scotch.

Hehe, that is why I am asking. I am leaning toward to much cf on one panel.

Weight loss is not the issue here, but does not hurt.
