Default KTS 300 or 301

Hello all,

What is the difference between a Bosch Hammer KTS 300 and a KTS 301? Given the software for a 964 was available for either.

The KTS 300 was the generic version, with software modules for many makes of car. There is a Porsche option in this software, but it has very limited fucntionality. A wide range of leads to connect the KTS 300 to the vehicle were available, because at that time there was no standardisation of diagnostic connectors.

The KTS 301 was the Porsche specific version of the KTS, it had very comprehensive Porsche software, covering 928, 944, 968, 964. This does many other things than just reading out fault codes - resfer to your workshop manual. The KTS 301 also came with the Porsche only 19 way connector lead, which is unique to Porsche.

If you get hold of a KTS 300 you can upgrade it to a 301. See my web site.

Hope this helps.

John,

I have a KTS300, what exactly does the upgrade to KTS301 entail?

Just the software module, and the Porsche 19 way lead.

The module is plug in. You may also need a new rechargable battery pack, after all this time.

Thanks for the reply John,

So the KTS 300 will will perform all the KTS 301 functions, with the proper module and the Porsche Interface Connector.

I hear that the is a small company that is reverse engineering the Porsche Sofware to run on a PC. Have you heard about this project?

Oops,
Soory, only just picked up this thread again.........

yes, you are correct about the KTS300/301.

I expect there are people going the PC route, via a suitable interface. I am doing some thing similar, but this device runs its own uC and has an alpha display. It will also run RS232 to a simple PC user inteface, as some people prefer this. The software is nearly written.

Regards
