1992 C4 Starter Suggestions? High Torque?

Hi All,

My starter is starting to act up & looks to be time for a replacement.

My shop suggested a "high torque" unit but is now having a hard time sourcing the unit. Any suggestions?

Anyone with a recommendation? Is the high torque necessary?

I've tried searching but surprisingly this isn't an active topic (that I could find?)

Just get a newer style stock part, Bosch SR0451N, and call it a day. Its smaller than the original and assuming your engine is stock, you don't need a high torque starter.

I got Bosch SR0451N for my C4 from Rock Auto, best price I found for a new unit. And despite what everyone will tell you, with enough determination and patience you can change a C4 starter without removing the axle and lowering the engine. (though I'm sure it'd make it much easier).
