On my 90 c2 I am seriously considering a suspension upgrade.
Car has now h&r coilovers 29580-1 that are absolutely not to recommend. Stifness is 47N/mm front and 30N/mm rear - completely weird although I asked twiche H&R Germany to get the numbers confirmed what they did.
Eibach pro + b6 is the cheapest option out there folllowed by kw v1. The question is which one to got for.
I use the car mainly on road, mountain roads. I used to do 1-2 track days a year but I have got another car for track now - the 964 may not see track again before some times but who knows.
I had the H&R (new bought) in my blue coupe and put it in my convertible, when i upgraded the coupe to RS suspension (and in between KW Comp). The H&R was ok in my eyes, but just a 90th tuning suspension and the the comfort was not there at all. After good experience with KW, i decided to change to KW V3 in the convertible and i would go this route.
The KW V1 is not bad, but also more a reasonable device. We have this in the Mini Cooper S of my girlfriend... it is good but not on the soft nor comfortable side :-)
V1 should bei 1,4k, V3 2,4k... So this 1k (Euro in my case) more would not be the worst money, you`ve spent in your life....
I would also not go with an damper/spring setup, because this is also wasted money in MY eyes...
Well currently in Germany v1 are around 2k.
Eibach + b6 are around 1.4k.
I plan to buy in Germany or France, prices in Switzerland are just not realistic as if one euro would be two swiss francs...
I have Eibach and Bilstein Sport on my '92 and am very happy with the result! Car came to me with 129k miles and original struts so ride transform is great.
When it comes to adjustable suspension, I always go back to the famous Colin Chapman quote: "Make the suspension adjustable and they will adjust it wrong -- look what they can do to a Weber carburetor in just a few moments of stupidity with a screwdriver."
The reality is that most people with adjustable suspension either never adjust it or adjust it poorly. I raced motorcycles for a while and the amount of time it takes to properly adjust the suspension to make it work for a given track (or street or canyon, etc) is significant. It's better to have a well rounded setting that works decently everywhere. And IMO, that's basically what the K1 is.
I have a set used B6 left in my garage, i removed from the convertible some years ago... you could have them for 200,- EURO...
If nobody else wants these, I'd happily take them! Both my front struts were an advisory at the APK the other week, and some cheap B6s would tide me over until the spring and a set of PSS10s...
