That cavity is for the C4/turbo/RS electro hydraulic braking system master cylinder.
Not my car but this is an old RoW cup car or RS essentially. You can see what fits in there on these. That is just a block off plate to seal things up.
@r-mm You shouldn't be seeing condensation under the lid. I suspect you have issues as well. I would check that all the drain ports are in place on the floor pan and that you don't have leaks as well. It will end up doing damage over time.
Thanks for this and good to see what goes there.
I will have a good look around and as mentioned I will pour some water around under the windscreen and bonnet area and won't just wash the wheels anymore!
You can sprinkle talcum powder on the hood gasket and then spray water on the hood to look for leaks....the talcum will wash away in any area where the gasket is leaking.

Cheers for this tip and I will check that out at the weekend.
That’s where dumb *uck “professional” stereo/radar installers from the 90s drill/butcher your car.
I would beat someone senseless if I saw them doing this.
I am talking about the primary seal that sits along the top sides and front. The corners separate and is an easy enough DIY replacement but why buy new if the old one can be repaired. I kind of doubt the washer bottles would impact this area since the smaller high intensity bottle (if yours comes with it) is on the wrong side and the primary bottle under the left side wheel liner.
This is the only pic I can find but you can see how the seal is splitting at the bottom edge this will happen in all 4 corners.
I was able to fix mine with Wurth silicone sealant but any brand will do the job.
Much easier than replacing the entire gasket.

Wow that is bad. A simple hole through the cover plate would have made sense vs drilling the tub. That is pretty amateurish someone actually paid someone to do this? Sharp edges and wires are always a good thing. Not to mention what they used. I hope you are fixing that soon.

OMG! I mean if you are going to trash a guys car, at least put a rubber grommet there to hide that train wreck of a hole..
I certainly would not have been a happy bunny about that.
Cheers for the tip and I will check that area. I think I will pour some water around the car and see if I can track the path of the water.

Hi Alex,
Yeah, that's a good idea.. did the same with a hose. hope you locate the leak
The lights are LED https://9elevenheadlights.com Raven versions. Really happy and been running them for over 2 years... there are cheaper options out there but I was bowled over by the build quality and Lee's passion to make a great product.

Hey Tom
Well I will report my findings when I get some.
Cool lights, but being in sunny Finland and with their love of taxes they would be too expensive here.
