Default HD Transmission mount / C2

Probably quite the obvious question here - just need the verification if possible.

In order to tighten things up (replaced engine mounts, cradle, etc..) I also purchased the HD transmission mount from Rennline: https://www.rennline.com/HD-Transmis...info/S-13004P/

I pulled the shield/belly pan off the car this morning to see the location. Question: This transmission mount is not installable while in the car, correct? There is not a tool or way to do this. (I highly doubt it, just asking).

Appears to be pressed in, and will have to press out the old one. In addition....that "nose" of the transmission that houses the mount is not something that you can easily just pop off, right?

If its a complicated process - I'll just set the HD mount aside for the next time I need to pull the engine, which I planned on doing a reseal in the next year or two - I'd just do it then.

Thank you for any insight.

you can change it in the car. just lower the front of the transmission down. I used a bushing tool looks like the setup for the wheel bearings. adapters with a threaded rod to push the bushing out and back in.
w.amazon.com/OEMTOOLS-27212-Bushing-Installation-Removal/dp/B01N6UC5KN/ref=sr_1_6?keywords=bushing+tool&qid=1641073 I have a setup like this but you could find a cheaper one. might want to see If auto zone would lone it.

I changed my c4 transmission mount twice. It looks like on the C2 you can lower and support the transmission and remove the carrier.

As I said above, I removed my transmission mount twice. Once to replace the stock mount with a HD version. Then after the annoying coffee grinding noise created by the HD mount, I bought and installed a new stock mount. Back to a quite box. Putting aside the coffee grinding noise, did I find a better shift with the HD mount? Nothing of note!

Just saying, you may have different objectives than me. All the best.

Wow great to know. Thank you for the insight and feedback. I’ll leave the stock in. It’s fine, I was just in the “while I’m in there, I might as well…”

I’ll set it aside for now. Thanks again!

RS hardness bush transmits a lot of noise. I wish I’d have used a stock C2 bush…I’ll change it back to the stock one at some point.

Default C2 transmission partial drop

I have the same problem with NVH in my C2 with the RS transmission mount. It was droning in 5th gear but since I added a LSD it’s very noisy. I’m planning on swapping back to the standard mount with the transmission in the car.
Anything in particular to watch out for when lowering the transmission ?
Thanks
Steve
