Default C4 Diff Lock Bellows

I am in need of a new bellows for the slave cylinder that operates the lateral differential lock on my 92 C4.

PET says I need part number 928 332 051 02
Pelican says this number has been superseded by 928 332 051 04

I found a vendor who has in stock 928 332 051 05 and he claims his is the latest version but I have been unable to confirm this.
Pelican lists the 05 number but says it cannot confirm it will fit my car.

Is it safe to assume that Porsche always uses the last two digits for revisions to the original part?
If so, then this part 05 should fit, right?

I am hoping someone can clarify or put their two cents worth on this topic. Unless I cancel the order it will get shipped on Monday. International returns are complicated, costly and waste a lot of time.
Help greatly appreciated.

In my experience superseded parts are backwards compatible. It could be as simple as the material for the bellows is different.

Thanks John. I just wish that when I enter the PET part number into the Pelican search, it would come back with the 05 version as superseding the 02, 03 and 04 versions. Currently it only comes back with the 04 making me think the 05 is either incompatible or Pelican needs to update its database. I guess I am about to find out.

Pelican says the 04 version is available

I have had the experience that both Pelican and dealers computer systems will often say they can’t confirm fitment to my MY 91. Recently I had to replace my alternator cooling fan. the systems said that but upon calling a Porsche dealer they used my vin to confirm that the part was correct. Maybe you could try that

Yes, it is "available" from Pelican but unfortunately not in stock. I called them and they could not confirm a delivery date as it might have to come from Germany. Meanwhile, another vendor has the 05 in stock and assures me that it supersedes the 04. Since I had never dealt with this new vendor, I was seeking corroboration and so far not had much luck. I will put my faith in the new vendor and I will post back here when the part arrives.

As an aside, do you know that Pelican (and presumably all other vendors) cannot quickly check stock at Porsche USA? They are not allowed to call or look at an online inventory. Instead they have to send an email request and it takes a minimum of 24 hours to get a response from Porsche USA. Seems cumbersome to me.

Good idea John. I will try calling a Porsche dealer to see what they say about the 05 and my MY 92.

Porsche dealer confirmed that 928 332 051 04 has been superseded by 928 332 051 05.

Belated update: The 05 bellows arrived and it fit perfectly.

Bellows metal end had corrosion-bonded itself to the slave pusher rod.

Turned a piece of hardwood dowel to drive bellows seal into place.

Bellows installed.

Brand new slave cylinder installed.
