100% the best, call sooner than later to get on the docket though……every good shop is backed up.

What kind of work do you need and what part of NJ you from OP?

2Swoosh: I'm near Morristown in northern NJ. The car hasn't been run in several years, so it needs a thorough 'once over'. Before that, though, it ran rough and was hard to start. It's also due for 20,000 mile service.

Dawes does impressive work, but their timelines are often extraordinarily long (read: years)

Not sure if they are near to you, I used them for a PPI on my 964 and they were very impressive. The wrench that did my car has or had, a 964 and they handle a lot of very high performance cars. After the PPI the boss called me to say if I didn't buy the car, he would.

true although for regular customers the timeline is shorter which makes sense when your time is limited you have to prioritize your long time clients.

I used this shop years ago and they did very good work. They are in the Rockaways and may have a shorter timeline than Dawes. https://www.pwr-tech.com

Apex Autowerks in Clifton, NJ (973) 859 0821 a true Porsche shop and they race them too. They were 2 hours from me (Cherry Hill) but well worth it and on schedule plus constant update from their front man Nick. The other one is Princeton Porsche but then again it's a dealer. Apex is only 22 miles from you. Good luck with your car man.
