Default Replacement wheels for 964

My wheels are shot on the vehicle I got this year. Apparently they are too bent to be repaired, so the wheel shop recommended that I replace them. I don't know anything about wheels or how the 964 is supposed to ride. The tires say "225/40 ZR 18 92W" amd "265/35 ZR 18 97Y"

What's a good replacement set of wheels that are good combination of size and style for this car? I see people post about narrowbody and widebody, but I am not sure which one I have.

I am no expert but I believe those are Speedlines and before you scrap them find a wheel restoring service and get their opinion

Thanks! I did take them to a local wheel restoration shop. They were the ones that told me that they were too foregone. They also indicated that these seemed to be cheaply made, so maybe they are knockoffs.

do some research on wheels for the 964. tons of options out there, but there are a few select wheels that everyone tends to like on the 964 and trust.

stock cups look great, but options from the aftermarket are often used. i run e88s, but i would consider and/or own bbs, fikse, hre, and maybe rotiform.

Those are RH-AG Cups, they are one piece made to look like three piece.

Budget comes into play here, you can get cast, forged and custom forged with the price rising accordingly.

The most affordable option would likely be some 17" Cup 1 Replicas.

Thumbs up

The CUP1 replicas do it for me and are easy to replace if you bend one....

Default There very few stock rims that I like but…

The Cup One’s, Cup Two’s, Turbo twists and 991 GT3 rims are really tough to beat.
I own all the rims listed, except the Turbo twists (working on finding on a 993 Turbo first!).
The Cup One’s are just classic. The Cup Two were 993 rims but actually are “better” than the One’s in terms of weight and “aerodynamics”.
Most normal people couldn’t tell the difference but most Porsche owners do not fall into that category.
For me Cup One > Cup Two. But they are very similar.

Hiro

Cup One’s on the 964.

Cup Two’s on the 964. The GT3 rims were not changed…

987 Boxter S 2 option 10 spokes 17's work really well. Great weight saving on Cup 1 wheels, in fact they weigh the same as the RS magnesium wheels and are made by the same company. Being alloy they are far more durable.

I replaced mine with some used "twists" which were a very cost effective used option from 996 or Boxster series. I'm happy with them but not the ultimate look.

If anybody would like a set of Cup 1's PM me, these are looking for a new home! $1k plus shipping!! They are Italian after market, however pretty much perfect shape now...(I had them powder coated to address all the "imperfections" from falling over on the faces ;-).

They are the NB fitment and 7.5" & 9" 17" rims. Tires are older (~2015 Maxis track tires that saw only one DE day and then put away).

I still have a set of 17” twists with new rubber for sale in the marketplace.I took them off a 1990 C4 I purchased last year when I converted to rally style.

I picked up a set of aftermarket Cup 2's with snow tires for $200 but then found a set of factory Cup 1's and made the change but both are nice looking.

Aftermarket wheels with snows often appear in the spring for dirt cheap and for slightly more with snows this time of year. If you buy used wheels with tires you want to check the date codes. Some sellers don't know that tires age out and will ask money for tires that really can't be used. Plus, you'll have to pay to remove (and ship) and pay to dispose of the old tires. If the tires are old ask the seller to remove before shipping or try to get the price adjusted. Best bet is to find local and have them tossed on a wheel balance machine to check condition.
