I am currently experiencing troubles with my Motronic. I am looking for a good unit to replace it, but as my car is from Japan, I do not know if Motronic from Euro cars or US cars will be ok. My 964 has also a tiptronic transmission.

Example the problem. The 964 DME ECM rarely has problems. All 964 DME ECMs will run in all 964s.
I had the motronic sent to FVD Germany for modification in order to fit a MAF kit.
It never worked properly, with a terrible idle, loud bangs in the exhaust, and black smoke.
So I sent it back to FVD, they put it back to original specs, and I restored the original air flow meter in the 964. It did not solve thz rough running.
Since it had always worked perfectly before, a friend of mine put my motronic on his 964 and it ran like mine, so I suspect something was damaged in the motronic during the operarions made by FVD....
