East Coast USA - Maryland - Recommend Mechanic Top End Rebuild
I recently moved to the Eastern Shores of Maryland, town called Easton. My 964 is running great but I've got some oil leaks that I've had for several years that are coming from the case bolts. I figure I'm ready to look for a shop to check it out and probably consider a top end rebuild and do the usual replacement of parts while the engine it out.
Easton is about 60 mins from Baltimore, 90 mins from Philly and 3.5 hours from NYC. Please help me find a reliable shop. I'm wiling to drive the distance.
Thanks, Ron

I had a chat with Tony and Dave at Bergman Autowerks in Manassas VA. I was about to have them do a cursory inspection for my oil leaks which at times have left puddles. Excellent, highly knowledgeable down to earth guys, answered all my dumb questions and showed me around their shop, which was immaculate. After our discussion, they suggested I start with changing to thicker oil grade. I swapped out 0W-40 for 15W-50, and the oil leaks have slowed to a few drips, enough for me to put off an engine pull for the time being.
Bottom line I have not had any work done by them yet, but based on what I saw and experienced I will be taking my business to them.

I would say CPR, but I don’t think they do anything aside from full restorations.
Aside, if you like Chinese food, House of Hunan up there is pretty hard to beat.

I would suggest Ralph's in Owings Mills Md just outside the 695 Baltimore beltway , ask for Chuck he's manager and owner they would be
more oriented toward a street driven car in my opinion than TPC , just a suggestion , Bert

I'll vouch for Bergman's. When I lived in Maryland, Dave did the top end on mine along with a few other things and I can't say enough great things about their workmanship and communication. I've now put over 15k miles since the rebuild and it pulls stronger then I could have asked for and is completely dry. I tend to do almost all of the work on my car and have only ever had 2 hands other then mine touch it. My painter (in Baltimore) and Dave!

I can give a couple recommendations. Several locals suggest Sloan at SSI for Baltimore work.
For VA, there’s Chapman’s in Sterling, and Auto sportsystems Group (ASG) in Dunn Loring. Bergman is very close to me, and I’ve worked with him a couple times, but I mainly go to Chapman’s or ASG because they understand track cars and can advise me on suspension setup and tweaks. ASG is an MCS dealer and is doing my MCS install right now.
Last time I was at Bergman’s, he was working on fitting a 997 GT3 engine in a WB 964 for a customer. That was 2-3 years ago, and I haven’t seen it yet so I wonder if it is still a work in progress.
