Light weight wheels?

Very interesting on the two versions of the 8 inch wide 17 inch wheel.
My version of PET lists the ".00" as "stock to be used up" and the ".01" as the latest version. The ".01" is also listed for the Turbo as a winter use fitment to replace the 9 inch rears.
Also in my search I noted at the end of the wheel section the same 9.5 inch wheels used in the Carerra Cup racing application are listed for the Turbo rear along with a kit of wheel studs and spacers to fit them just as on the Carrera Cup...
Too bad Porsche who introduced the forged aluminum wheel to the production car world in 1967 on the first 911S started making cast boat anchor wheels in the 90's to save money
I have voted with my wallet for Fikse as well, my FM10's are just a little over 19 pounds each for 8.5 and 10 inch wide 17's

My 3kg guess wasn't bad then if the truth is 2.5kg per rim!!!
Anyhow, they are all but irreplaceable so my RS mags are going on the shelf once they are nicely refurbed - and I'll run my super sexy BBS GT2 rims which at least can be fixed if I smack them!
Sadly I am looking like BBS will be a bunch of clowns to deal with - certainly from the impression my supplier gave me today they don't sound great to deal with even when they have sent the wrong wheels.
Pic for you to laugh at....
I have no idea what happened but, erm, that doesn't look quite right somehow, eh?
(And all the more annoying when you've shelled out the price of a small car for a set of wheels and tyres..................)

Julian-
Nice color on the 964 is it Tangerine or Blood Orange.
The URL I posted on a prior page of this thread lists the BBS part numbers for the wheels you have from BBS as though they are a stock item for them.
BBS GTII Magnesium Center wheels
Part number RY200GP is an 8X18 ET 50 mm Front wheel for 964
Part number RY201GP is a 10X18 ET 53 mm Rear wheel for a 964.
Are these what you have?

PS Will a 10x18 fit the rear on Euro RS ride height with NO rubbing on my narrow-bodied car????
We chose (ha ha) 8" fronts and 9.5" rears for these wheels this time (though god knows what actually came!)

Here is the URL just in case for the BBS part numbers
http://garagestash.net/prosit/
I have 10 inch rear wheels and they fit fine with no rubbing even with 275/40 rear tires. My wheel offset is 56.7 mm with a 12.7 mm spacer to make it 44 mm offset.
My car is an American Cup which has the rolled fenders and flattened rear oil line like your European RS.
I think with the 53 mm offset BBS uses in the 10" BBS I listed above one would be OK with the 255/40 stock size tire.

Julian,
I'm wondering if you're running spacers at the rear? It's not just the tractor-like image of your car which has me thinking but the mention of certain "Cup" wheels in this post which require spacers and longer studs to accommodate the 65-68mm offsets. With the standard 52-55mm offsets, you'd obviously have no need for spacers.
Just a thought.

On my C2, I have Kinesis 10x17's with 54mm offset and 6.5mm spacer for roughly 47mm offset. With Michelin Cup 255's, there's no rubbing on oil line or trailing arms, and fender lips are unmolested.

I suspect I'm missing somthing obvious here.

So why should I have rubbing with 255 MPSC's on 9x17 44 offset on fender lips, trailing arms, oil line and inner wheel arch ?
With 44mm offset, rubbing on the fender lip: depending on camber I could see this. I had 9.5x17's with 44mm offset, and, with -2.5 camber, cleared the fender lips and was a comfortable distance away from the trailing arms and oil line (factory flattened oil line). However, there wasn't alot of space between the tire and fender lip with that combination. Lowered height and alignment settings could affect this too. What alignment setting do you have in back and what's the height from the ground to the fender lip center?
Granted I am brain dead from a long day, but I can't picture how a 9x17 44mm offset/MPSC 255 could hit the fender lip and trailing arm. Having a wider tire hit the inner wheel arch is not too unusual, nothing a few good whacks won't take care of.

What about the new wheels for the Boxster or 996 those 5 spoke wheels, I think they are under #20 apiece, however I do not know how well they will fit.. I think the Offsets are there (17" Front 55mm, Rear 50mm Boxster Wheels).. Has anyone done it?

Yes, those will fit but I saw a By Design ad in an Excellence issue a few months back which stated a weight of 21 lbs. I'm referring to the 18" five-spokes which seem to be a "hot" upgrade right now. Here's a recent thread from the 993 Forum regarding this rim. Is this what you're referring to, Rick?
Edit:
Here are the weights:
18" Carrera:
8" x 18" - ET50 - 20.50 lb
10" x 18" - ET65 - 22.70 lb

Thanks Cupcar, Joey - no, definately no spacers but since the fronts also don't fit I'm fairly sure that the wrong wheel set full stop has been sent.
Cheers for your help.
